College of MedicineContinuing medical education consists of educational activities that serve to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships physician use to provide services for patients, the public, or the profession. The content of CME is that body of knowledge and skills generally recognized and accepted by the profession as within the basic medical sciences, the discipline of clinical medicine, and the provision of health care to the public. All CME activities should assist physicians in carrying out their professional responsibilities more effectively and efficiently.

The SUNY State College of Optometry has partnered with Candeo to ensure that the optometrist is keeping abreast of the latest scientific and technological advances in the profession. Enduring Materials and Meeting Events enable practitioners to expand their knowledge and skills to better serve their patients. Continuing education courses vary in subject matter, location and structure. They range from full-day symposia on specific topics to shorter written pieces.
SUNY is a participating member of the Council of Optometric Practitioner Education (COPE) and submits all continuing education to COPE for course approval.
